Sylvia Shi: ACBL’s Decision on Self-Kibitzing

Sylvia Shi was found guilty of cheating by the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL). Shi has been suspended for 3 years (7/23/2020 – 7/22/2023) and therefore placed on probation for 3 additional years (7/23/2023- 7/22/2026); additionally, 25% of accumulated masterpoints have been forfeited.

Shi will be ineligible to regain the status of of Grand Life Master for a period of 5 years after suspension ends,  and even then remain ineligible unless eligibility is restored by the Appeals and Charges Committee based on redemption achieved  “trought substantial contributions to the bridge community and the demostration of esemplary behavior“.

ACBL Management offered to Shi a Negotiated Resolution and Shi accepted it and submitted a written statement admitting use of proihibited sources of information during the online bridge play: click here to read the statement »
