Pierfrancesco Parolaro has been elected as the new President of the Italian Bridge Federation (FIGB).
Alberto Giovanni Gerli, Stefano Attili, Silvana Bonocore Annino, Claudio Sartorio, Alessandra Famiglietti Manganella, Giuseppe Manovella, Simonetta Bigi, Alfredo Versace, Valeria Sculli e Carla Gianardi have been elected as members of Federal Committee.
A few hours after his election Alfredo Versace, who supported Giuseppe Frenna’s candidacy, resigned.
Today Versace released to Neapolitan Club the followings:
“I was disappointed. I believed in our work projects and in our presidential candidate Mr Giuseppe Frenna, but unfortunately, we lost. I decided to resign immediately after the first Federal Council meeting because I saw right away that I would have little say in matters (I was excluded from the Presidential Council after a quick internal vote). I also wanted to make space for a council member who was more closely linked to the group that won the election, so they could work without issue. It is important to end all controversy and let the new President (to whom I renew my congratulations) and his Council members do their best work, in the hope that they can truly help our bridge!”
