usbf logo 2Thanks to three outstanding final segments, +93 in forty-five hands, Paul Fireman’s team defeated John Diamond’s in 2015 USBF Championship and became USA2 for the Bermuda Bowl (Chennai, India, from September 26th to October 10th).

Paul Fireman was eliminated in the 2014 USBF (USA1 Trials), in quarterfinal by Bramley. In 2015’s his race began in the round robin, where he placed second behind Cayne; after he defeated Vinita Gupta, Craig Ganzer, Jimmy Cayne and, in final, John Diamond by 297-229, then he was still -25 after the fifth segment.

Paul Fireman’s mates: Gavin Wolpert, John Kranyak, Vincent Demuy, John Hurd and Joel Woolridge.

USA1, 2014’s winner: Nick Nickell, Ralph Katz, Bobby Levin, Steve Weinstein, Jeff Meckstroth, Eric Rodwell; Captain Eric Kokish.

Honour to winners, they sure deserved their place. This news, however, cannot end without mentioning the ordeal of John Diamond and his mates, Brian Platnik, Eric Greco, Geoff Hampson, Justin Lall and Kevin Bathurst. They struggled in both championships until the unlucky finals, yesterday against Fireman and last year -8 against Nickell. They placed second twice, but cannot be called losers.
