Atlanta Summer NABC 2013 – The Spingold Knock Out Teams is the last great event before the Bermuda Bowl; there are sixty-seven entries; the Number One is Monaco, title holder; the Number Fifty-five is Allen Kahn; lower the seeding number, stronger the team. The teams from 56th to 67th are playing an opening tourney to enter among the sixty-four, that is the figure next to the power of two which needs in a knock-out tourney.
There are two teams who keep on playing with the same players by whom they won the qualifying stage to Bermuda Bowl: Monaco (Fulvio Fantoni, Claudio Nunes, Thor Helness, Geir Helgemo, Pierre Zimmermann, Frank Multon), who won the European Championship – Zone 1 Tourney – and Fleisher, USA2 from American Trials (Martin Fleisher, Mike Kamil, Zia Mahmood, Chip Martel, Michael Rosenberg, Chris Willenken). Fleisher, Number Four today, was beat by Monaco in last year’s Spingold semi-final.
The players of the other three teams who are expected as favourite in Bermuda Bowl, Italia, Usa1 Kranyak, and The Netherlands, are scattered in different teams. The three Italian pairs, Bocchi-Madala, Duboin-Sementa, and Lauria Versace, have been engaged respectively by Gromov (#6), Mahaffey (#12), and Cayne (#8). There is another Italian pair, Dano De Falco and Gabriella Olivieri that are playing with Patricia Cayne (#43).
Of the two pairs who in March won the Vanderbilt playing as Denmark Team, Sabine Auken and Roy Welland are playing with Schermer (#17), whereas Morton and Dennis Bilde are with Street (#35).
