In  the final of the Prince Albert II Cup in Monaco, Gladysh defeated team Zimmermann  and reached the cup. In the other final Marill (with Toffier, Pilon-Cronier, Bessis-Bessis) beat White House (Jansma-Paulissen, Bertens-Bakkeren) and conquered the podium. The match Gladysh  (with Krasnoselskiy, Gromv, Dubinin)  vs Zimmermann (with Multon, Fantoni, Nunes, Helgemo, Helness) was decided in a quite spectacular fashion.

With one board to go (out of 48) Team Zimmermann led by 1 IMP against Team Gladysh (Krasnoselskiy, Gromov-Dubinin).

At the final board Gladysh and Krasnoselskiy bid and made a grand slam in clubs. At the other table Fantoni and Nunes (Zimmermann’s team) bid the grand as well but in spades.

East, Andrew Gromov, had to find a lead from a 1-4-4-4 distribution. He found the club lead ruffed by Alexander Dubinin, his partner, who had doubled for Lightner. So in the end the Russians proved to be the cup winners.
