Il Dipartimento di Fisica dell’Università di Roma ha una stanza, a fianco della biblioteca, dove gli studenti possono parlare e rilassarsi. Nei primi anni Settanta, una parte di questo spazio fu colonizzato da un gruppo di studenti bridgisti – non fu mai accertato cosa studiassero, fisica o bridge. Una volta Salvatore, uno di loro, si alzò presto dal tavolo. “Come mai?” chiese Mario, il suo compagno. “Ho un esame contro Leo”. Leo era il nome con cui chiamavano quel professore. The Department of Physics of Rome University has a room, next to the library, where the students can talk and relax. In early seventies, a part of this room was colonized by a bunch of bridge playing students – it never did ascertained what they studied, physics or bridge. Salvatore, one of them, a time stood up soon from table. “Why?” asked Mario, his partner. “I have an exam against Leo”. Leo was as they called that professor. Twenty minutes later Salvatore was back. “The exam?” Mario asked. “Leo doubled”, he replied, sitting again and shuffling the deck. Read the full story

Friday night in Montegrotto the team of Romain Zaleski takes the field. Next to the young but already titled pair D’Avossa – Intonti,  we can see an unusual triad: Zaleski will alternate at the table with Valerio Giubilo and Apek Kowalski. The pair Versace-Lauria, in fact, doesn’t take part in the  Montegrotto Bridge Festival because in these days is involved in the Spring North American Bridge Championships in Louisville (Kentucky). Venerdì  prossimo  a Montegrotto scenderà in campo la squadra di Romain Zaleski. Accanto alla giovane ma già titolata coppia D’Avossa-Intonti vedremo un’insolita terna: Zaleski si alternerà al tavolo con Valerio Giubilo e Apek Kowalski. La coppia Versace-Lauria, infatti, non partecipa al festival di Montegrotto poichè impegnata in questi giorni a Louisville (Kentucky) per i Campionati di Primavera in America (Spring 2011 North American Bridge Championships). Silvio Sbarigia

 

SILVIO SBARIGIA is a pharmacist; he was born in Rome and lives there. He has won the European championship in 1975 with legendary Blue Team, runner up at 1974’s and at Olympic games of 1976.  Sbarigia is member of Neapolitan Club Technical Commettee.
