Three Italian teams are going to play the Junior League, the Intercity League for junior teams (see official website). The Roma’s team, all by women, lines up eight girls that are trained by me in sight of the next European championship. It’s made by three from Rome, three Sicilians, one from Piedmont and one from Liguria. All have already played in international events and several of them have been awarded in U26 Italian championships.

Margherita Chavarria and Giorgia Botta, who started to play when very young, are the most experienced.

The Cagliari’s team, captained and trained by Dario Attanasio, is utterly made by cadets. Sau-Calmanovici and Pruna-Racca are four boys from Cagliari, born and grown out under the protective wing of Gavino Zedda (they are called lovingly “the Zedda Boys”).

This year they won the gold in U26 Italian championships and the silver medal in Biarritz’s cadets tourney; they also participated at pairs European championship in Opatija.

Giovanni Donati from Rimini, born in 1998, pairing up with Matteo Montanari won the 2010 U26 pairs championship and got the third place in the team championship. In the same team championship, on 2009, he got the silver medal, aged ten years!

Giacomo Percario from Livorno, only 14 yo, gained excellent places in CAS (advanced tourneys in school campus) and this year ha reached the fourth place in U26 teams.

The Palermo’s team lines up four Sicilians, two Romans, one from Turin and one from Apulian. Almost hall have participated in international events and they boast national victories too in their class.

Leonardo Fruscoloni played in the Italian Team in 2006’s U21 World championship, while Andrea Failla, with Gabriele Zanasi, has played in 2009’s first World Youth Congress in Istanbul.

Emanuela Capriata is an italian top player: She reached prestigious international results in women pairs with Cristina Golin. Since some years Emanuela  has slowed down her competitive commitments to monitor and train the young players group at Bridge Eur Sporting Club in Rome. In 2010 the Italian Federation appointed her head of CAS sector and national selector and coach of under 26 girls team.
