A world record. It will be difficult to top this feat. The Pakistani Women’s Team participating in the 17th BFAME Championships at Ahmedabad had half its team (three members) from one family. The three members are related to each other as “Grandmother”, “Mother” and “Daughter”. The “Grandmother” is Qudsia Dossa, who participated in the 1st BFAME championships as well and is playing in her 17th BFAME here with Roshan Ara Bokhari. The “Mother” is Rubina Saeed Hai and the “Daughter” is Fatima Raza. Mother and daughter partnered each other in this championships. Surely it will be impossible to break this record.
A first. Brothers Darren (Canada) and Gavin (USA) Wolpert will compete against each other in the Bali Bermuda Bowl. This is believed to be the first time that siblings have played against each other in a World Championship for different NBOs. Many sets of brothers, husbands and wives and fathers and sons have played together (Hacketts, Herbsts, Gartaganis’, Beckers, and so on). Futhermore, Hazel Wolpert, the brothers’ mother, will be the NPC of the Canadian Bermuda Bowl Team. Gavin’s wife Jenny was about to take part in the USBF Venice Cup Trials at press time.
Pére et fils. As is usual these days, Agustin Madala will compete for Italy in the Bermuda Bowl in Bali. His father Adolfo Madala will play for Argentina in the d’Orsi Bowl for seniors.
