A new association is born: ABRESBI, the Brazilian Mind Sport Association. Abresbi  is recognised by IMSA (International Mind Sports Association) and has as its affiliated: the Brazilian Confederation of Chess, Draughts and Bridge, the Brazilian Association of GO and the Brazilian Confederation of Poker. The creation of Abrespi, chaired by the Chess International Grandmaster, Darcy Gustavo Machado Vieira Lima, also marks the launching of Brazil’s candidacy to host the World Mind Sport Games in 2016.

The first edition of World Mind Sport Games was held in Beijing, China, in 2008. The second edition will take  place from 11 to 24 August 2012: the hosting city will be formally announced in London on November 17.
