Naxos 2014The Giardini Naxos International Tournament will be held at the ATA HOTEL NAXOS BEACH of Giardini Naxos (Messina, Italy) from June 26 – 28, 2015.

Giardini Naxos is a popular town and resort situated just south of Taormina on the north-eastern coast of Sicily (between Catania and Messina). Founded in 734 BC, it was the first Greek colony in Sicily. In the late 19th century elegant villas were built, used as holiday mansions by the upper classes. Today it is a popular area for tourists seeking both culture and beaches, that can be reached in less than one hour from Fontanarossa – Vincenzo Bellini airport in Catania.

The event includes the Pairs Tournament and the Teams Tournament.

In 2014 the winners of Team Tournament were Giuseppe Failla, Dario Attanasio, Mario D’Avossa, Riccardo Intonti. Stefano Caiti and Maurizio Pattacini won the Pairs event.

Entri fee Pairs: 20 € each player – 10 € juniores.

Entry fee Teams: 280 € each team. The entry is free for teams composed entirely of under 26 players.

In the last three rounds teams will not be allowed to move between sections. In the last three rounds, the bottom 8 teams in group C will all play against each other. (The organisers reserve their right to change the number of hands played in each round and the criteria to split the field in sections.)

Venue – ATA HOTEL NAXOS BEACH**** is a tourist complex perfectly inserted in Giardini Naxos. The Atahotel Naxos Beach has been built over an area of 14 hectares dominated by the imperious Etna Volcano and shading off to the sea. The whole complex is surrounded by a huge park of citrus fruits, olive groves and many kinds of flowers. If you want a day off, enjoy sunbathing on the beautiful private beach of the hotel, or plan a trip to the georgeous Isola Bella, for swimming, snorkeling, and relaxing with a typical Sicilian Granita. Guests can visit the Gole dell’Alcantara and Mount Etna, only 45 minutes away. In a one-day excursion it is also possible to visit the suggestive city of Agrigento, the Valley of the Temples (La Valle dei Templi), the village of Taormina and its Ancient Theatre, Catania, a main economic, tourist and educational center, Archaeological Park and museum of Sicily’s first Greek colony, Syracuse, the Roman theatre in Piazza Armerina, and by sea, the beautiful Isole Eolie.
