logo Bridge BondThe Netherlands – The World Bridge Federation (WBF) invited the Dutch Senior Team to participate in the upcoming World Championships in Bali (16-29 September, 2013). There was a vacant place because Argentina withdrew. The Dutch Bridge Federation accepted the invitation and announced its team for D’Orsi Seniors Bowl: Anton Maas – Bep Vriend, Koos Vrieze – Onno Janssens, Loek Verhees sr. – Chris Niemeijer.

 

WBFUsa – 3rd World Youth Bridge Open Championships, Atlanta 2013: Open Pairs. In Juniors’ section gold went to Massimiliano Di Franco and Gabriele Zanasi from Italy, silver to Akin Koclar and Erkmen Aydogdu from Turkey, bronze to Sylvia Shi and Alex Prairie from Usa. In Youngsters’ section gold went to Allison Hunt and Asya Ladyzhensky (Usa), silver to Andrew e Richard Jeng (Usa), bronze to Jin Kai and Jin Tianyi (China). In Girls’ section gold went to Giorgia Botta and Margherita Chavarria (Italy), silver to Karla de Jesus and Adriana Suarez (Venezuela), bronze to Julie Arbit and Isha Thapa (Usa).  The 3rd World Youth Bridge Open Championships are underway at The Hyatt Regency Hotel, Atlanta (GA, USA) from the 3rd to the 11th August, 2013.

Donald MamulaUSA – ACBL President Donald Mamula has resigned his position effective Aug. 12, the day after the 2013 Summer NABC. Bill Cook has been elected to succeed Mamula. Cook’s term runs through the end of 2013.

 

Ron Klinger (by E. van Ettinger)Australia – The Bridge World magazine has announced the appointment of Australia’s Ron Klinger as a Contributing Editor. Klinger is one the famous bridge writer of the world and has been one of the leading players in Australia over many decades. Klinger joins The Bridge World’s editorial staff beginning with the magazine’s August issue.

 

logo-worldmindgamesChina – The third edition of SportAccord World Mind Games will be held from 12-18 December 2013 in Beijin, China. Beijing, the capital of China will be the host city of the event until 2014.
