 Canada – 2012 Canadian Bridge Championshps were held in Montreal from 28 April to 5 May. The Nicolas L’Ecuyer’s team (with Vincent Demuy, Leslie Amoils, Darren Wolpert, Danny Miles and Daniel Korbel) won the National Team event defeating in final Bob Todd’s team. In Senior Team event the winner is Joey Silver’s team with John Carruthers, John Guoba and Martin Kirr. The Ina Demme’s team won Women’s Team event: Playing with Demme were Hazel Wolpert, Linda Wynston, Lesley Thomson, Debbie Bennett and Pamela Nisbet. The winner of the Open, Women and Senior Team Championships will represent Canada in the upcoming World Bridge Game in Lille.

England – The Schapiro Spring Foursomes, Englands strongest international team event, has been won by team Liggins (Joe Fawcett, Ben Green, John Holland, Glyn Liggins). Liggins defeated no. 1 seeded Allfrey ( Alexander Allfrey, Peter Crouch, Tony Forrester, David Gold, Derek Patterson, Andrew Robson) in a very exciting final. The event was held from 4 to 8 of May at  Stratford-upon-Avon.

 

Turkey – Italian superstars Lorenzo Lauria and Alfredo Versace will take part in the 2012 Turkish Open Nationals in Antalya during 5-13 May at the Talya Hotel and Convention Center. Like last year, Lauria and Versace play in the team Zorlu with Nafiz Zorlu and Mustafa Cem Tokay. The all-Turkish Pusa-M team is the title defender. The matches, starting on 6th May Sunday will be broadcast on BBO Vu-Graph.

France – New entries in Open Team: Thomas Bessis and Cédric Lorenzini have been selected to represent France at the upcoming European Championships in Dublin (Ireland). Thomas Bessis will partner with his father Michel, Lorenzini will partner with Jerome Rombaut. Marc Bompis and Jean-Christophe Quantin are the third pair and Jean-Claude Beineix is the not playing captain.
