Terje Lie and Nils Kvangraven won the 2018 Marit Sveaas IBT

The 3rd edition of the Marit Sveaas International Bridge Tourmament was held in Oslo (Norwey) at Opera House from June 29th till July 1st 2018. Participating pairs were 179.

The tournament is so called in memory of Marit Sveaas, one of the leading women bridge players in Oslo and Norway in the late 60’s and 70’s.

Some of the strongest European players took part in event, including members of the Norwegian Open Team that won the gold medal at the 2018 European Championships in Ostenda: Terje Aa, Allan Livgård, Boye Brogeland, Espen Lindqvist and Nils Kvangraven.

Terje Lie and Nils Kvangraven won the tournament; Boye Brogeland and Espen Lindqvist reached the second place; Christophe Grosset and Baptiste Combescure from France came third.

With his usual sense of fair play, Boye Brogeland stated: “There were huge prize money at stake (250.000 NOK for the winners), but as the other three years the atmosphere was very good and friendly. The winners, newly crowned European Champion Nils Kvangraven and his former partner Terje Lie, played at table one and two the whole tournament and were deserved winners. I hope to see many more foreigners (40 foreign pairs this year) put this great tournament on their calendar.“
