PBU: Disciplinary Convictions for online Cheating

The PBU (Polish Bridge Union – PZBS)  Disciplinary Department on the basis of the disciplinary admission proposal (16/201/2009/2010 2016) unanimously decided to punish H.P. (player ID 11664, Świetokrzyski Klub Brydżowy w Kielcach) and A. P. (player ID 11665, Świetokrzyski Klub Brydżowy w Kielcach)  for violating the rules and regulations, and as a result: They are disqualified for a period of twelve months, and they won’t be able to play as a pair for 3 years in official PZBS online games.

The master points gained during the period November 29 – December 27, 2020 are revoked. They have been found guilty of exchanging unauthorised information which has led to several unexplicable bids.

The parties are entitled to appeal against the judgment, through the disciplinary body, within 14 days.

The PBU (PZBS) Disciplinary Department also unanimously decided to punish JK (player ID 4042, SUDOVIA International) and JG (player ID 4040, SUDOVIA International) for a similar breach. The players are disqualified for 24 months. They cannot play as a pair for five years. The master points gained between November 15, 2020 and March 2021 are revoked. The players are accused of possessing and using unauthorised information, while playing in PZBS tournaments on the BBO platform. The accused did not admit to guilt. Due to the importance of the evidence presented and active participation of the defendants in the bridge sports competition, we decided to apply a preventative measure in the form of temporary disqualification. In the meantime, we have analysed a detailed database of 461 hands, along with the accusation’s comments and we asked the accused for additional explanations. We found a lot of hands out of the ordinary, both in the bidding and play.

The parties are entitled to appeal against the judgment, through the disciplinary body, within 14 days.
