Multiple forfeits against Italy: EBL Decisions

The EBL (European Bridge League) posted the followings:

As communicated yesterday the EBL Championships Committee has made inquiries into the reasons for the forfeits.
The results, and our conclusions, are as follows:
• There were differing reasons behind the forfeits, but none could be classified as a “force majeure” occurrence.
• We decide to rule in accordance with article 18 of the EBL General Conditions of Contest (“GCoC”) scoring the match in accordance with Appendix 1 to the GCoC.
• Due to the absence of “force majeure” we use the right given in Appendix 1 to assign a score of 0 VP to the forfeiting team.
• The final result for the non-forfeiting team can only be determined at the end of the last round.
• No further action will be taken.
