This is the message from Mr Ken Monzingo, ACBL President, published at the Summer NABC Daily Bulletin:

In an unprecedented show of courage and dedication, a group of eight members of the ACBL appointed Ethical Oversight Committee, led by EOC chairman Bart Bramley and committee chair Peter Boyd, worked tirelessly in a three-day hearing to reach the result listed above regarding the accusations of collusive cheating by Fulvio Fantoni and Claudio Nunes.

These hard-working committee members undertook this time-consuming project to act on behalf of all ACBL members, standing up for us all in making the much-needed statement that we will not tolerate unethical behavior.

Their definitive decision reflects a new era in pursuing and prosecuting cheaters. On behalf of myself, the executive committee of the Board of Directors, ACBL management and the 168,000 other members of the League, we salute committee members Peter Boyd, Dennis Clerkin, Bruce Ferguson, Bob Glasson, Robb Gordon, Kevin Wilson and Eddie Wold.

And special thanks to Bart Bramley for his passionate desire to not only stamp out such behavior, but to inform everyone of the dedication of his committees.

The committee members knew what they were facing, and the responsibility of the future of fair play in bridge was in their hands.

I assure you that management and the Board, with the help of the extraordinary volunteers such as these members of the EOC, will continue to make sure the game of bridge is conducted on level playing fields, and that those who would connive to play otherwise will face the maximum penalties available.
