On the 3rd of August 2021, the Italian Bridge Federation (FIGB – Federazione Italiana Gioco Bridge) announced the Trials for the selection of the team that will participate in the 45th World 2021 Bridge Team Championships – Open Teams, Bermuda Bowl (Salsomaggiore Terme, 27 March – 9 April 2022).
The Trials will be played on the following dates:
First Phase or Single Phase: 16-19 September 2021
Second Phase: 14-17 October 2021.

The participation in the Italian Trials will in be subject to the approval of the FIGB Credentials Committee. The FIGB Credentials Committee will meet tomorrow 2nd September.
The Credentials Committee can express its negative opinion until 6th September. If there is no outcome, it is assumed that all players are in good standing and therefore eligibile.***
Some players said they intend not to take part in this selection, as a protest against the Federation.

* Dano De Falco said to Neapolitan Club he is about to find out the FIGB Credential Committee’s decision. At the moment he does not intend to play in the Team Bortoletti as it currently stands.
** Team Vinci said to Neapolitan Club: ” We all are about to find out the FIGB Credential Committee’s decision. At the moment we do not intend to play”.
