Spring 2012 NABC—March 15-25 in Memphis, TN

Spring 2012 North American Bridge Championships Memphis is the town where four singers, on 4th December 1956, met casually in Sam Phillip’s recording room; they started to play and sing all four together, joking like all the friends do in all the world when they are happy to be joined. Sam Phillip wasn’t there, but a sound engineer registered all in what is today known as “The million dollar Quartet”. Those friends were Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis.

Other singers are today coming to Memphis to assemble in other quartets, and duets, to play the National Spring Championships. All this will start on 14th March (tomorrow), lasting until 25th.

Europeans and the rest of the world people are directly and indirectly concerned in the event: directly because there are not limits to the nationality (nor the participants are asked to reside for two years aboard into a paddle steamer on Mississippi River); indirectly because the most important tourney of the event is the Vanderbilt Teams.

The Vanderbilt is the first paint-brush trait on the canvas to represent the two teams who will play the 2013 edition of Bermuda Bowl: the final position earned here is worth for the starting seeding in the Trials.
