The Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) has appointed a Special Commissioner for FIGB (Italian Bridge Federation): Mr Marcello Marchioni. The measure was necessary as a result of administrative failures detected. The National Board of CONI met this morning under the direction of President  Mr Giovanni Petrucci and approved the procedure against Italian Federation.

The rumors about the appointment of a Special Commissioner were running for some time.  Several members of Federal Council  of FIGB had  just submitted their resignations  some days ago, including the General Secretary Mr Giovanni Maci.

As the Regional Secretariat of Emilia Romagna has just informed us,  at the last meeting of Federal Council – held on Tuesday 12 July-  Maci’s  resignation was not accepted and then was withdrawn.

However, due to the decision of the Olympic Committee the President Mr Giuseppe Tamburi and the entire Federal Council of FIGB decay.
