Andrew Robson, World Master, 1989 World Junior Team, 1991 European Champion, etc (look up the Official Encyclopedia for more), invite us to the “Night of Stars 2012”: “Please join us for the Night of the Stars 2012. The Stars are coming out in force to support the event and we are now taking bookings for our Auction Pairs on Sunday 27, November when you may take part in Paul Mendelson’s entertaining auction of Stars.

Please get in touch with our Manager at

 marietta@wimbledonbridgeclub.co.uk

if you would like to attend the auction, and/or to play with one of our stars in the Night of the Stars on Thursday 23 February.

Bids for stars may be placed without attending the auction. Alternatively you can download a charity Pairs auction booking, click Charity Booking Form…”

The remaining to know is in Wimbledon Bridge Club home page.

In brief: on Sunday 27th you have to go to Kenneth Black Memorial Hall in London, 56a Worple Road SW19 4EY (Click here for a map to SW19 4EY), where you’ll bid in the auction to play with a star in the Night of Star, February 23th 2012 (but you can bid by getting in touch with Marietta quoted above as well), then you can play in the Charity Tourney at once, for only £15, in aid of Help For Heroes, Alzheimer’s Research UK, Helen and Douglas House and Water Aid. The entry fee also allows to drink delicious tea plus glass of wine. Aren’t mentioned cookies or nibbles, but we feel sure there are.

This is the list of the stars you can choose out of: Fulvio Fantoni, Andrew Robson, Zia Mahmood, David Gold, Nevena Senior, Brian Senior, Nick Sandqvist, Paul Hackett, Gunnar Hallberg, Dafydd Jones, Sally Brock, Espen Erichsen, Nicola Smith, Janet de Botton, Simon Cope, Ian Pagan, Peter Crouch, Tommy Garvey, Fredrik Björnlund, Graham Osborne, Jeffrey Allerton, Andrew Kambites, Martin Garvey, Marc Smith, Ed Scerri, David Burn, Frances Hinden, Thor Erik Hoftaniska, Gad Chadha, Ben Green, Willie Coyle, Roland Wald, Bob Rowlands, Gary Jones, Peter Lee, Andrew McIntosh, Patrick Jourdain and David Price.

A fine bunch of World, Continental and National winners, isn’t it? But it is not allowed to play with more than one.

In the list there is Roland Wald as well; there’s nothing against his inclusion, but a question: who does comment?
