InterCity League (ICL) Spring 2013

Leggi in italiano »

On Wednesday 13th of March will start the 19th edition of BBO InterCity League, directed as ever by Tonci Radelja (Cobrad in BBO). ICL is a team championship played on BBO twice a year by European towns; all the World can participate, but the mandatory playing time is Wednesday 8:45-9 pm CET (London +1, East Coast +6), unless both captains agree for different time. The teams’ names must be of a town, but the players are allowed from everywhere, and there aren’t limits to the number of them per team. The tourney’s format is in two phases: qualifying round robin with one sixteen board match per week, then a knock-out stage; quarter finals, semi-finals, final, on twenty-four board matches. Here is the League’s url:

Results and schedule after 2nd round can be followed on:

Who are willing to participate (and deal with the burden of being captain) can register writing to radelja@gradst.hr.

Also single players and pairs can ask to play; Radelja will search a team for them.

The title holder is the Polish Team of Wroclaw, who beat Glasgow in last autumn edition. The most strong team – on paper at least – is the Italian Ascoli Piceno.
