by esme 42Intercity League is an international teams event played on BBO twice a year, in spring and fall; this edition, starting on October 16th Wednesday and ending in December, is the 20th . The tourney is divided in two phases: round robin and knock-out. The teams are divided in groups of no more than ten; the best twelve will forward to the 4+8 knock-out phase, that is the best four will have the bye to quarter-finals.

The teams must have the name of a town. There are no limits of players: each team can line up as many players per team as they like, but the players that haven’t played in the round robins shouldn’t be employed in the knock-out, unless the team is short of four.

In the round robin the matches will be by sixteen boards; in the final stage the matches will be by twenty-four (or more if both captains agree to do so).

Mandatory playing time: Wednesday 8:45-9 pm CET (London +1), unless both captains agree for different time.

The trophy is organized by the club of Split (Croatia); the tourney director is Mr. Tonci Radelja (nickname in BBO: Cobrad). Write him to register a team; email:

The title holder is Ascoli Piceno (Italy), which has won six out of the nineteen edition played so far. No other teams still won more than once.
