High participation in SportAccord World Mind Games online tournaments

One month after the launch of the SportAccord World Mind Games online tournament, very encouraging participation figures have been registered across the Bridge, Chess, Draughts, Go and Xiangqi (Chinese Chess) online gaming platforms. The first figures have been made available by some of the hosting online platforms. BridgeBase Online has already informed that more than 600.000 games took place in the quest for the main prize. At the same time, Pandanet (online platform hosting the online Go tournament) informed that the number of players has already doubled compared to the first edition of the online tournament in 2011.

SportAccord World Mind Games online tournament is organised for each of the five mind sports participating in SportAccord World Mind Games. It is hosted by the biggest existing online gaming platforms. The winner for each sport will receive an invitation to attend the SportAccord World Mind Games from 12-19 December 2012 in Beijing, China (travel and accommodation included). In addition, Samsung tablets and Swatch watches will be awarded to other top players.
SportAccord World Mind Games are a multi-sports event which highlights the great value of mind sports. The world’s best players deliver top-level performances and create new valuable experiences based on intelligence, strategy and exercise of mind. SportAccord is the umbrella organisation for 107 international sports federations and organisations. SportAccord promotes its members’ sports and increases their visibility on the world stage by establishing SportAccord Multi-Sports Games – high-level competitions of Olympic and non-Olympic sports and disciplines with similar backgrounds in a festival atmosphere. The events strive to be a model of responsible event management through high standards of integrity and sustainability. They aim at contributing to the positive development of the society through social responsibility and education programmes. The first events in a series of SportAccord Multi-Sports Games were the World Combat Games (2010) and World Mind Games (2011). The second editions are under-way. The next events to be introduced are the World Beach Games (2013) and World Artistic Games (2014).
