Leggi in italiano »

The Court of Cologne removed the German Federation (DBV -Deutscher Bridge Verband) suspension for Entscho Wladow and Michael Elinescu. The verdict was issued on Tuesday, 28 March 2017.

The current proceedings refers to the appeal submitted by Elinescu and Wladow against disqualification decided by the DBV as a result of the known facts of Bali in 2013.

Yesterday (March 30, 2017) the news has been annonunced by the German newspaper “Kölnische Rundschau”.

According the author of the article, Mick Schulz, this decision does not question the cheating allegations and is based on a different consideration: The tribunal considered whether the suspension was legal, in the context of the Federal laws, and whether the players had implicitly subscribed to those rules, simply by participating in official tournaments.

Of course the verdict of the Court of Cologne refers only to DBV events and do not concerns other international tournaments.

The author also writes that it seems very probable that German Federation will appeal this decision made by the Court of Cologne.
