Yesterday the 6th European OPEN Bridge Championships have started at Kursaal OOstende in Ostend (Belgium) with the mixed pairs event.
The qualification rounds have been completed and the top 52 pairs (out of 207) move to the final stage.
Due to organizative problems, the first day (Saturday June 15) only 4 rounds were played instead of 5, as previously scheduled: one round (10 boards) was deleted.
The final stage of mixed pairs will be played tomorrow, Monday June 17 (50 boards) and Tuesday June 18 (52 boards). As stated in the Supplemental Conditions of contest, there will be carry-over scores from the qualification into the final.
Ronnie Barr and Eidad Ginossar from Isreael won the qualifications, second place to Philippe Cronier and Catherine D’Ovidio, third place to Marc Bompis and Sylvie Willard from France.
