2016 United States Bridge Championship: Semifinalists

usbf logo 2Quarterfinal’s results – Gordon: 235. Mark Gordon, Pratap Rajadhyaksha, David Berkowitz, Alan Sontag, Jacek Pszczola, Michael Rosenberg Vs Coren: 315. Richie Coren, Roger Bates, Russ Eklebad, Steve Garner, Mattew Granovetter

Thus the number one of this championship, Gordon, has had to give way to the number eight, Coren. The balance of the eight 15 board segment is tie, 4-4, but the terrible very first one,-66, had not longer to be rescued.

 

Diamond: 333. John Diamond, Brian Platnik, Eric Greco, Geoff Hampson, Kevin Bathurst, Justin Lall

Vs Wolfson: 208. Jeff Wolfson, Neil Silverman, Billy Cohen, Gary Cohler, Michael Kamil, Zia Mahmood

After a balanced first day, the first segment of the second day, +73 to Diamond, decided the match.

 

Fireman: 304.7. Gavin Wolpert, John Kranyak, Vince Demuy, John Hurd, Joel Woolridge

Vs Schwartz: 176.  Richie Schwartz, Allan Graves, Huub Bertens, Curtis Cheek, Chris Compton, Mike Passell

Schwarz resigned after the seventh segment. This also started as a tie match after the first day, but after came 80-2, 43-49 and 65-20 in the following three segments.

Nickell: 207. Nick Nickell, Ralph Katz, Bobby Levin, Steve Weinstein Jeff Meckstroth, Eric Rodwell

Vs Fleisher: 279. Marty Fleisher, Chip Martel, Ishmael Del’Monte, Chris Willenken, Joe Grue, Brad Moss

Sixth and eighth segment decided this match: 63-27 and 60-26.

 

Semifinals:

Coren – Fleisher

Diamond – Fireman

SILVIO SBARIGIA is a pharmacist; he was born in Rome and lives there. He has won the European championship in 1975 with legendary Blue Team, runner up at 1974’s and at Olympic games of 1976.  Sbarigia is member of Neapolitan Club Technical Commettee.
