by esme 42The 21st edition of BBO InterCity League has come to semi-finals; the matches will take place on Wednesday May 21st at 20:45 CET (19:45 GMT; 14:45 EST), and will be by twenty-four hands. One semi-final will be between the remaining two Italian teams, Messina and Ascoli Piceno (BBO nicknames of captains: Ranbru, Turbin); the other one will be between the Polish Szprotawa (cpt piter_57), and the Bulgarian Razgrad-Lovech (milmar)

The favourite is once more Ascoli Piceno, title holder, seven time winner and once runner-up.

In Wednesday’s match, Ascoli Piceno will line up Fabio Colasante with Paolo Enrico Garrisi; this pair will play Neapolitan Club, that is the Eugenio Chiaradia’s system which won so much in the fifties and sixties of the past century. The Neapolitan Club was dismissed by Blue Team in 1965, after the exit of Chiaradia from the Italian Team, but, according to Paolo and Fabio, it is still the most effective bidding system.

The other pair of Ascoli Piceno, in Wednesday’s match, is Steen Moller and Stig Werderlin, two well known Danish champions; after the match, Moller and Werderlin will stay to reply kibitzers’ questions and to comment the hands actually played. To watch, join the tables of Captains.
