2014 Reykjavik Bridge Festival

Reykjavik-03-by-Lorenzo-RicucciThe Reykjavik Bridge Festival will be held at the Icelandair Hotels Reykjavik Natura in Reykjavik (Iceland) from 23 – 26 of January 2014. The first event is the Pairs Tournament (January, 23-24), then there will be the Teams Tournament (January, 25-26). As usual, the day before the Festival (January 22) the Star Wars will be played: It’s a pro/am tournament. The top 12 pairs and the top 3 teams will be awarded.

For now there are 182 pairs and 95 teams in the list of participants. Among participating temas there is K1 from Bulgaria: Ivan Nanev, Rosen Gunev, Diana Damianova, Viktor Aranov. They won the 2013 Città di Milano Tournament and grabbed the silver medal at the 2013 Champion’s Cup in Croatia. Navev and Gunev also won the 2013 Monaco Cavendish.

Some teams are coming from England: Brian Senior (with Sandra Penfold, Nevena Senior, Rumen Trendafilov), Janet de Botton (with Artur Malinowski, Nick Sandqvist, Tom Towsend) and Anita Sinclair (with David Gold, Marusa Basa, Frederik Bjornlund, Zia Mahmood, Andrew Robson). Gold and Robson will represent England at the 2014 European Championships in Croatia.

From Ireland is coming Mark Moran with his team: Tom Hanlon, Hugh Mcgann, Rory Boland, John Carroll, Tommy Garvey. Of course there will be the 2013 Reykjavik Festival holders, Team 1702: Sebastian Reim and Nedju Buchlev from Germany, David Kendrick and Victor Milman from England.

Silvio Sbarigia


SILVIO SBARIGIA is a pharmacist; he was born in Rome and lives there. He has won the European championship in 1975 with legendary Blue Team, runner up at 1974’s and at Olympic games of 1976.  Sbarigia is member of Neapolitan Club Technical Commettee.
