donazione Night of the starsThe internationally acclaimed Night of the Stars Pro-Am charity event will be taking place at the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability in Putney, London on Thursday 27th February, 2014.

Andrew Robson has often referred to the Night of the Stars in his column in The Times as, “the flagship event in the world of charity bridge” and The New York Times described the event as “the Who’s Who of British bridge…” In addition to these newspapers, it regularly features in such publications as The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Times, The Spectator, English Bridge and rumour has it, even on the evening news on French television.

Last November, Paul Mendelson conducted the main auction of the fifty two Stars playing and Dutch world champion, Sjoert Brink has just confirmed he will be joining the event. Within days, the bidding to partner him reached a fantastic level.

The organisers also report that the venue can accommodate more tables than originally anticipated and so there are still tickets available for people who would like to play with their regular partner. If you are interested in playing, please email the organisers at [email protected] .

Thanks to the support and generosity of so many, this event continues to smash record after record. The Night of the Stars 2014 is supported by more Stars and bidders than ever before. This event offers bridge players of all standards the opportunity to raise money for charity by playing the game they love. So far, the Night of the Stars 2014 has raised over £30,000 for charity and careful management will ensure that the charities receive every penny donated as the organisers expect that all expenses will covered by separate, specific donations and sponsorships.

The 2014 Night of the Stars is in aid of the following fantastic charities:

Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability

Teenage Cancer Trust

West London Action for Children

Macmillan Cancer Support

The Night of the Stars 2014 is supported a galaxy of Stars from Andrew to Zia including: Andrew Robson, Andrew Kambites, Andrew McIntosh, Artur Malinowski, Ben Green, Bob Rowlands, Brian Callaghan, Brian Senior, Colin Simpson, Dafydd Jones, David Burn, David Gold, David Price, Derek Patterson, Ed Scerri, Erlend Skjetne, Espen Erichsen, Fredrik Björnlund, Gad Chadha, Gary Jones, Graham Osborne, Gunnar Hallberg, Heather Dhondy, Ian Pagan, Janet de Botton, Jeremy Dhondy, Joe Fawcett, Lee Rosenthal, Liz McGowan, Marc Smith, Martin Garvey, Martin Hoffman, Michael Byrne, Mike Bell, Nafiz Zorlu, Neil Rosen, Nevena Senior, Nick Sandqvist, Norman Selway, Patrick Jourdain, Peter Crouch, Peter Lee, Phil King, Rob Cliffe, Sally Brock, Simon Cope, Sjoert Brink, Stelio Di Bello, Tommy Garvey, Tom Townsend, Victor Silverstone, Willie Whittaker and Zia Mahmood.

The analysis of the hands will be written by international superstars: Barry Rigal, Boye Brogeland, David Bird, Fulvio Fantoni, Larry Cohen, Phillip Alder, Ron Klinger and Tony Forrester.

The Night of the Stars is truly what it says, a night of stars.  Its success is due to the gracious experts who play, to celebrity auctioneer, Paul Mendelson and to our wonderful directors, Gordon Rainsford and Martin Lee as well as Neil Morley who directed the Auction Pairs.  But it is clear, the tremendously generous bidders, donors, sponsors and players are amongst the brightest stars on the night.

With 53 Stars playing and potentially 56 tables, the Night of the Stars 2014 promises to be the biggest and best ever and this year everyone can take part. Even if one cannot attend, everybody can be a Star by making a donation through the event’s on-line donation facility. All it takes is a simple click on the Virgin Money Giving link which can be found above.

With your help, the Night of the Stars can really make a difference to so many people’s lives.
