Yesterday evening Constance Goldberg together with William Eisenberg from the U.S.A. won the Invitational Pairs tournament in Jurmala, Latvia.
24 pairs played 7 rounds (4 boards in the round) and at the last round Goldberg-Eisenberg were playing against Swedish pair Bjorn Wenneber and Per Leandersson. The result of the tournament was mainly decided on board No 26.
Good bidding led to easy 13 tricks (after a diamond lead) and 11 IMPs on the board, because only 3 pairs bid the slam.
Goldberg-Eisenberg won the event with 51 IMPs, followed by V.Gonca-O.Antonkov (Latvia/Estonia) with 37 IMPs and P.Zatorski-M.Klukovski (Poland) were third with 29 IMPs. All details and results you can find at www.rigainvites.lv.
