Marion Michielsen 2 (Louk Herber)Last weekend Team Lavazza won the for the second consecutive year the Italian Mixed Team Championship. Like last year Norberto Bocchi played with Cecilia Rimstedt from Sweden and Agustin Madala with Marion Michielsen from The Netherlands. The third pair was Giorgio Duboin and Rosa Tamburelli.

Hereunder two great Diamond Grands bid by Marion and Agustin. First:

Grand Slams 1

Easy make. Hearts were 4-1, but spades were 4-2. Other table 7Heart -1. Plus 16 IMPs to Lavazza. Then:

Grand Slams 2

The final contract was 1400 down. At the othe table North opened with a weak two in spades. East overcalled 3Heart, and South raised to 4Spade, where it rested. Plus 13 IMPs to Lavazza.

Final word by Marion Michielsen: “If West would have jumped rightaway to 4Heart (in stead of psyching 3NT) it would be dubious if we would have bid more then 4Spade.”
