2012 NEC CUP: To the Final

17th NEC Bridge Festival – NEC CUP Open Tournament. The quarter-finals winners are: Down Under, Japan ONI-TAKA, Bulgarian All Stars and NEDUK. These four teams have played the semifinals: Down Under defeated Japan ONI-TAKA 79-49,5; Bulagrian All Stars defeated NEDUK 74,5 -62. Thus the final mach is Down Under (with Sartaj Hans, Tony Nunn, Martin Reid, Peter Newell) vs Bulgarian All Stars (with Valio Kovachev, Vladi Isporski, Manol Iliev, Hristo Hristov).

Bulgarian Stars eliminated NEDUK, the defending team in which play Louk Verhees and Ricco van Proijen from The Netherlands – winners of 2011 Bermuda Bowl – with David Bakhshi – David Gold from United Kingdom.

The final match comprises 4 sessions of 32 boards: Down Under vs Bulgarian All Stars, Saturday, February 11 starting at 10.00 a.m. (Yokohama City time).

Silvio Sbarigia


SILVIO SBARIGIA is a pharmacist; he was born in Rome and lives there. He has won the European championship in 1975 with legendary Blue Team, runner up at 1974’s and at Olympic games of 1976.  Sbarigia is member of Neapolitan Club Technical Commettee.
