2012 Italy Cup is underway

The Italy Cup final stage takes place in the usual venue of the “Palazzo dei Congressi” in Salsomaggiore Terme (Parma, Italy) from the 13th to the 16th of  December 2012. This is the last event of the 2012 season: the winners of the Men section will be awarded with the Trophy Giorgio Belladonna and the winners of the Women section will be awarded with the Trophy Anna Valenti.

16 teams were admitted to the final stage.  After the quarterfinals only four semi-finalists remain in the race: Canottieri Olona Lavazza, Breno Zaleski, Tennis Roma Lanciano, Angelini (Men) and Bernasconi, Massara, Nardullo, Colombo (Women).

Yesterday, Friday, Dec. 14, was played the first round of the semi-finals which will conclude today. Tomorrow, Sunday, December 16 the final will be played and we’ll know the names of the winners.

Men Teams Roster

Olona Lavazza: Norberto Bocchi, Giorgio Duboin, Guido Ferraro, Fabrizio Hugony, Agustin Madala, Antonio Sementa, Francesco Saverio Vinci and Maria Teresa Lavazza (not playing captain).

Breno Zaleski: Roman Zaleski, Mario D’Avossa, Riccardo Intonti, Massimo Lanzarotti, Andrea Manno.

Tennis Roma Lanciano: Roberto Lanciano, Bernando Biondo, Carlo Carpentieri, Giuseppe Delle Cave, Fulvio Fantoni, Mario Guarino, Franco Masoero, Claudio Nunes and Lino Bove (not playing captain).

Angelini: Francesco Angelini, Leonardo Cima, Benito Garozzo, Valerio Giubilo, Lorenzo Lauria, Federico Primavera, Alfredo Versace.

Winner of the last edition (2011) was Zaleski’s team: Hard to make a forecast for the current edition, as all four semifinalists teams are competitive.

SILVIO SBARIGIA is a pharmacist; he was born in Rome and lives there. He has won the European championship in 1975 with legendary Blue Team, runner up at 1974’s and at Olympic games of 1976.  Sbarigia is member of Neapolitan Club Technical Commettee.
