2011 Poznan Open Teams: Gold to Mahaffey (USA)

5th EUROPEAN OPEN BRIDGE CHAMPIONSHIPS – Poznan (Poland) 17th June – 2nd July 2011. Open Teams. In the final Mahaffey (Jim Mahaffey  Gary Cohler, Sam Lev, Jacek Pszczola, Jeff Meckstroth, and Eric Rodwell)  defeated Bessis  (Michel Bessis, Thomas Bessis, Josef Piekarek, Alexander Smirnov) and reached the gold medal.

Bronze to Monaco A  (Jean Charles Allavena, Marc Bompis, Marco Catellani, Henry Fissore, Nathalie Fey and Jean Christopher Quantin) winning the play-off over Texan Aces.

In the quarter final Maheffey defeated Italian team  Lavazza in a very exciting match and Texan Ace in the semifinal.

SILVIO SBARIGIA is a pharmacist; he was born in Rome and lives there. He has won the European championship in 1975 with legendary Blue Team, runner up at 1974’s and at Olympic games of 1976.  Sbarigia is member of Neapolitan Club Technical Commettee.
