2010 Champions’ Cup: bad weather stops Francesco Angelini

Starts today in Izmir (Turkey)   the ninth edition of the Champions’ Cup. This is the annual competition between the national team champions of the strongest European nations, as determined by the final classification of the most recent European Team Championships.

In 2009 the Italian club team championships  had been won by Team Angelini: as  Angelini Team enters de jure (won latest Champions Cup title), even Villa Fabbriche, the second Italian ranked team  in 2009,  gained entry.

Here are the Italian Teams:

Villa Fabbriche: Filippo Palma cng, Dario Attanasio, Giuseppe Failla, Arrigo Franchi, Matteo Montanari, Ruggero Pulga e Giampaolo Rinaldi.

Angelini Roma: Ercole Bove cng, Francesco Angelini, Boye Brogeland, Fulvio Fantoni, Geir Helgemo, Tor Helness e Claudio Nunes.

Statements of the protagonists. Claudio Nunes: “We don’t consider us as favourites for the title”. Fulvio Fantoni: “It’s an important championship for us. It’s vital for us.”

A curiosity. Playing sponsor Francesco Angelini hates to fly (in fact he never travels by plane) and therefore he is on his way  to Izmir by boat. However due to bad weather conditons his 40-meter yacht could not leave the harbour of Athens. Hence it is not sure that Mr. Angelini will arrive on time for the championships.
