1st European Online University Team Championships – Press release

Posted on 29 January 2013

eusa-logoI’m very happy and proud to announce that the 1st online championships organized by EUSA and EBL will start this month with 33 universities in Europe participating. Hereunder you find the list of the participating universities. This number is a new record in Europe’s university history beating the record till now with 32 teams participating in EBL championships in Brugge under patronage of EUSA. After 61 teams all around the world participating in the 3rd online championships from FISU and WBF (World Bridge Federation) organized in 2012, this confirms that university bridge is “alive and kicking”!!

The next 2 months, the 33 teams will play first in groups, to determine the 16 finalists. Following that there will be knock out stage with a round each month. The rosters of the teams are shown below.

If everything goes well, we will not continue till the end to determine the winner, but will stop when the 4 last finalists are known. As a prize for this Championship, the 4 finalists will normally be invited by EUSA and EBL to come to the EUSA games Rotterdam, if possible for the OC of the Games. The EUSA games are the biggest European Sports Event attracting between 2500 and 4000 athletes.

All information and results is and will be available on www.unibridge.eu and facebook “UNI Bridge”.
